Committees

Committees: The following standing committees are currently recognized: Membership Enhancement Committee; Economic Empowerment Committee; Credit Union Committee; Project Committee; National Convention Planning Committee (NCPC) (Comprising of National Executive Council, the host city selected Committee, a selected member of the Board of Directors, and a member from the immediate past host city), Youth Affairs Committee, and Affairs Committee. Ad-Hoc Committees shall be formed as needed. The president shall appoint committee chairpersons.

  1. Committees must submit their report promptly, or as directed by the president.
  2. No executive/board  member  shall  serve  on   more  than  one committee.
  3. An executive or board member may chair an ad-hoc committee but not the president or the board chairman.
  4. Each committee shall consist of five and not more than seven members except the NCPC.

Tenure.

Committees shall serve only for the specific term for which the President is elected and until their successors are appointed; or for such term as the Board shall determine.

Duties.

The duties of the Committees, and the rules and regulations governing their operations, shall be prescribed by the Board of Directors, except as otherwise provided herein. Some of the duties of the Committees are as follows:

Membership Enhancement Committee

  • The Vice President, Secretary, and Public Relation Officer shall assist members of the Membership Enhancement Committee in the execution of their work.
  • Primarily responsible for the recruitment of new members and providing membership services
  • Prepare membership brochure and work with various chapters in advancing recruitment efforts
  • Identify affiliates for inauguration and inclusion into national body.
  • Identify potential conflicts among members and within various affiliates and manage conflict resolutions and complaints from members.

Economic Empowerment Committee

  • Identifies and develop strategies for raising funds for the organization
  • Prepare letters and proposals
  • Sends and manages fundraising letters
  • Be the nerve center for economic development agenda for Isu na Eliligbaraogu (INE) and the central organ for fundraising
  • Identify and screen companies and individuals for sponsorships and awards.
  • Identify and suggest Keynote Speakers and Special Guests and Chief Guests of Honor during our events.
  • Provide guidance, oversight, and support to all major forms of donor planning, development, management, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with other committees to gain knowledge of project progress and status to enable donor management and retention.
  • Develop an annual calendar/workplan for the committee’s activities, including critical dates, milestones and required committee actions.
  • Engage in advocacy and networking.
  • Participate in annual special events and other fundraising activities such as raffles, galas, silent auctions and other events with the main goal of raising money for the organization.

Credit Union Committee

  • Responsible for establishing the Credit Union
  • Prepare and submit documents needed for a charter

Project Committee

  • Responsible for managing all construction, energy, environmental, social and educational projects within Isu na Eliligbaraogu (INE).
  • Write project proposals that will attract these projects for the benefit of the organization and its members
  • Be responsible for planning and organizing all our Projects
  • Recommendation of annual Projects to be implemented
  • Prepares budgets for all projects
  • Serve as advisor to Economic Empowerment Committee
  • Provides input with respect to:
    • INE communication material
    • INE marketing material, flyers, banners, posters, brochures, press releases
    • Work closely with the President to develop INE strategy for local or Home INE

National Convention Planning Committee (NCPC)

  • Responsible for planning all our National Conventions
  • Prepare budgets and assist in coordinating all activities during Convention
  • Write report of each Convention

Youth Affairs Committee

  • Develop programs for the Youth and work with the youth during INE National Conventions; this will include Talent Show, Spelling Competition, Debating Competition etc.
  • Recruit more Youths to INE and maintain a roster of our Youth
  • Present to the Executive names of our graduating Youths every year for award and certificates
  • Organize Youth competitions and other engagement programs
  • Be an active part of Isu day Activities and organize Isu Na Elligbaraogu Cup under Youth Soccer Competition (boys/girls); Volleyball (boys/girls); Dancing (boys/girls); Table tennis (boys/girls); Field/Track events etc.

Women Affairs Committee

  • Develop programs for the Women and coordinate women activities during INE National Conventions; this will include cultural programs like fashion show, traditional dances, inter faith prayer groups, education and training of our kids on language, traditions and culture.
  • Design uniforms for women and present to the Executives, projects and programs attractive to women
  • Present to the Executive names of our members for wedding, naming ceremonies, house warming events, relocations and birthdays for recognitions, support and rewards
  • Organize Women competitions and other engagement programs
  • Work with youth affairs committee to Develop and implement counseling and mentorship programs for our youths.
  • Serve as women advisers to INE home branch
